Why we feel WeatherBest™ shutters are the BEST shutters available WeatherBest™ shutters are manufactured by a thermoforming process in which two high-quality plastics are laminated together. The substructure is high-impact polystyrene and the exposed surface is a Korad™-Acrylic laminate that gives your shutters a deep rich color. The laminating process is an engineering method used to create structural strength while eliminating unnecessary weight. ***High-Impact Polystyrene is one of the most durable plastics on the market. It resists cracking and breaking over a wide temperature range. Bathtubs, refrigerator linings and outdoor advertising signs are all made of high-impact polystyrene. Because of polystyrene, our shutters will absolutely not warp nor will they easily crack or break. By using high-impact polystyrene we eliminate the need for excess bulk, and we provide you a more durable product. **Korad™-Acrylic is most often used to provide protective coatings and UV protection on lenses/glass, automobiles, RV's, kitchen and bathroom fixtures and a wide range of household and vehicle items. Acrylic is the one of the most abrasion resistant plastics available. The acrylic laminate provides protection from scratching and it gives your shutter almost complete ultraviolet protection. Thanks to Korad™ -Acrylic lamination, WeatherBest™ shutters will not fade and are highly resistant to surface marring. I've seen other shutters made of a heavier plastic and are cheaper??? You can buy shutters at the large home centers that are made of heavier plastic. They can be cheaper in cost because they are made of cheaper materials. They are usually made of polyethylene...the same plastic of which milk jugs are made. The cheaper shutters are not laminated and have to build in extra bulk in order to provide structural integrity. Please read their warranty. They most often specifically say that they WILL NOT guarantee their shutters against fading or warping. Note: You may have to open the shutter package to find the disclaimer on fading and warping. Because our shutters are constructed of two superior grades of plastic, laminated together, WeatherBest™ shutters do not need extra plastic to "bulk them up" in order to make them durable. Our shutters weigh less but will last longer than the heavier alternatives. Heavier does not necessarily mean better. Our promise to you says it all: "…a lifetime warranty on fading, splitting, warping and cracking." Thank you for selecting WeatherBest™ shutters! Be sure to review our WeatherBest™ product line of awnings and canopies. They compliment our shutters and will add a classy accent to your home while lowering energy costs and protecting your home's interior from damaging ultraviolet exposure.
